Ground Before Grow

Building Sustainable Organizations from the Inside Out.

Ground & Grow Consulting partners with nonprofits, educational institutions, and mission-driven organizations to strengthen strategy, operational infrastructure, programs, leadership, and organizational capacity.

The Problem

Organizations don't become sustainable by accident.

Ground & Grow helps organizations build the strong foundation needed to grow with confidence—so momentum becomes durability instead of strain.

  • Growth outpaces infrastructure
  • Teams become stretched thin
  • Processes turn inconsistent
  • Strategic plans sit on shelves
  • Funding becomes reactive
  • Leaders spend more time firefighting than building

Our Philosophy

Ground Before Grow.

We believe sustainable organizations are built through the alignment of six essential elements. When they work together, organizations are positioned for lasting impact.

  • Strategy
  • Operational Infrastructure
  • People
  • Programs

Meet the Founder

Twenty years of leadership, brought to your organization.

Tanesha Powell is a nonprofit executive, former educator, and organizational strategist with 20 years of experience spanning education, youth development, program design, and nonprofit leadership. Throughout her career, she has partnered with nonprofits, schools, and community organizations to design impactful programs, cultivate high-performing teams, and align strategy with mission.

Most recently, as Executive Director of ART 180, Tanesha led the organization through one of the most complex chapters in its nearly 30-year history. Guiding it through strategic decision-making, governance, operational challenges, and its planned dissolution reinforced her belief that lasting impact requires more than passion—it requires intentional strategy, strong operational infrastructure, effective governance, and aligned people.

Ground & Grow Consulting was founded on that belief. Tanesha now partners with nonprofits, educational institutions, and mission-driven organizations to build the strong foundations that enable sustainable growth, resilient leadership, and meaningful community impact.
